Bloch, Ernest – Prayer for Euphonium and Piano.
Bloch's Prayer, composed in 1925 is sub-titled “From Jewish Life” and was originally written for Cello and Piano. Its Hebraic sounds are beautiful on the Euphonium with its rich, mellow sound. The work (set in bass clef) is about six minutes in length, recommended for advanced performers and conveys a deeply religious mood; reflective, pleading and expressive. Playable by most college students, it is a perfect addition to a recital, jury or concert.
