In the sweet by-and-by by Joseph Webster, arranged for Brass Quintet by Ivan Brand.

This piece begins by developing the typical emotional feeling of peaceful longing consistent with verse 1 of the original lyrics. It then turns celebratory consistent with verse 2 - "We shall sing on that beautiful shore!". The piece climaxes with an emphatic refrain and coda which underscore the forthcoming celebration when "We shall meet on that beautiful shore". An optional tambourine can be used effectively to add to this celebratory style. The included alternatie instrumentation consisting of Alto Sax (for F Horn), Tenor Sax (for Trombone), and 5-string Bass Guitar (for Tuba) can creat an exciting and unique musical texture.
